V E PARROTT PROVIDE WORK PLACEMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR TRAINEES

Parrott Construction has shown its commitment to helping students gain valuable work experience by welcoming two trainees to its team.

Nita Skellington is currently on a work placement within the surveying team before commencing a BSc(Hons) in Quantity Surveying in October 2015. The degree course, accredited by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), is designed for students who want to manage the financial and procurement process of construction projects. Through a combination of theory, practical work and a work placement Nita will learn how to organise, control and manage the costing of construction projects. She will be studying on a day release basis at Nottingham Trent University.

Gakii Kithinji has joined the surveying team as a trainee, having already undertaken a Foundation Degree in Sustainable Construction at the University of Bedfordshire. This has enabled her to continue onto the Honours Degree in Construction Management at the same university.

“Joining Parrott Construction has given me the opportunity to work as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor,” says Gakii (Kii). “Having building qualifications has no value without the site experience. Parrott Construction provide the support and guidance required to progress my understanding of Social Housing and the Building industry in General.”

Parrott Construction is committed to helping students to gain an insight into the various aspects of the construction industry and is pleased to have Nita and Gakii on board. The company wishes them well with their future studies and chosen construction careers.
