Historical Almshouse Refurbishment and Extension Project Completed

This week we handed back to our client, “Julia Norris Almshouses”, four fully refurbished and extended Almshouses located at Church Street, Little Gransden.

The eight month project involved many conservation building trades and has produced Almshouses that are traditional and yet very modern.

The project included completely overhauling the external fabric of the building, upgrading windows and external walls, re-roofing, leadwork and rainwater goods, stonework and brickwork. We also constructed rear extensions in a sympathetic style, almost doubling the original living accommodation.

Internally the insulation qualities have been upgraded throughout, together with a complete refurbishment of the interiors, including providing wetrooms, bathrooms and new modern, well equipped kitchens, whilst also installing underfloor heating.

We were particularly delighted when two of the four units were occupied by the previous residents.
